Mangaluru: Man allegedly misbehaving with college girl on KSRTC bus taken into custody

He was identified as Mohammad Touheed from Mangaluru. When the bus reached the Puttur KSRTC bus stand, the suspect reportedly attempted to flee through the emergency exit window.

Mangaluru: A male passenger on a KSRTC bus from Mangaluru to Puttur was taken into custody for allegedly misbehaving with a female college student onboard.

According to the complaint, the incident took place on July 22 around 6:30 pm, when the bus reached the Mani area in Bantwal taluk.

The complainant, who had boarded the bus in Mangaluru after her college, alleged that a man seated next to her behaved inappropriately.

She confronted the troublesome passenger, identified as Mohammad Touheed from Mangaluru, and alerted her father about the incident over the phone.

When the bus reached the Puttur KSRTC bus stand, the suspect reportedly attempted to flee through the emergency exit window. However, the college girl's father and the public managed to catch him.

Police action follows

Based on the complaint, a case has been registered at the Puttur Women’s Police Station under Section 75 (Sexual harassment) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023.

The police said that investigation is in progress.
