<p>Following the protest by residents near Kesare about foul smell emanating from the animal waste dump site, Mayor of Mysore City Corporation (MCC), N M Rajeshwari along with other officials visited the dump site here on Tuesday.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Following the inspections, the Mayor instructed the officials to properly dispose the animal waste and said that steps must be taken to prevent such instances from repeating. <br /><br />Speaking to Deccan Herald, MCC Commissioner, P G Ramesh said that the recent complaint was due to a large amount of animal waste being dumped at the site following Bakrid celebrations in the city. Due to this, some waste was not dumped properly, which resulted in the foul smell. <br /><br />“Though there are no houses nearby, some passersby complained about the smell,” he said.<br /><br />He said that there was no proposals to shift the dumping site as of now.<br />MCC Health Officer, Dr D G Nagaraj said that Kesare was a rocky terrain where it was difficult to dig holes to dump animal waste. <br /><br />“A JCB which was used to dig holes suffered some damages while digging holes at the dump site. From now, a Hitachi will be placed permanently to dig the ground and dump animal waste,” he said.<br /><br />Stressing that MCC was disposing animal waste unscientifically, he said that MCC would spray organic solutions to reduce the smell, if necessary.</p>
