The Department of Public Instruction in Dakshina Kannada has rescheduled the mid-term vacation for primary and high schools from October 14 to October 21. Earlier, it was scheduled between October 7 to 21.
The rescheduling of the vacation is to make up for the hours lost during holidays declared following heavy rain in the district.
In a circular, DDPI Y Shivaramaiah said that the deputy commissioner had declared holiday for all schools in the district for nine days following rain. Further, schools in Sullia, Puttur, and Bantwal had declared holidays depending on the rain situation at the local level. He said that in case of necessity, schools should conduct classes for the whole day on Saturdays and that at the local-level they could cut down local holidays to make up for the teaching hours.
