Two arrested in Raichur's Manvi on charges of raping eight-year-old

Manvi, Raichur district: The Manvi police on Wednesday arrested a man on charges of raping an eight-year-old girl, a class 2 student at a private school, at a village in the taluk.

The police arrested Shivanagouda for raping the minor, and Raju Talikoti, the owner of the school, on charges of negligence. The suspects were produced before a magistrate and taken into judicial custody.

On Thursday, Tahsildar Raju Pirangi and BEO Chandrashekar visited the private school.

Members of various organisations, including women's bodies, staged a protest in the village condemning the incident and demanding stringent action against the perpetrators.
