MLA’s son & others booked for vandalising tollgate on Kalmala-Tinthini highway

Devadurg (Raichur district): JD(S) MLA Kremma G Nayak's son Satosh Nayak and several others have been booked for vandalising tollgate near Kakkargal on Kalmala-Tinthini state highway late on Wednesday night.

Karemma had earlier led a protest opposing the construction of the tollgate. She had warned of severe protests if the agency started collecting the toll. Despite protests, the contractor firm started collecting the toll.

The legislator's son, along with a group of 45 to 50 JD(S) workers, vandalised the tollgate and destroyed the devices and furniture late Wednesday night. Based on the complaint lodged by tollgate manager Naveenkumar, who claimed that devices worth Rs 19 lakh were damaged in the attack, the Gabbur police have registered a case against Santosh Nayak and several others.

Lingasugur DySP Dattatreya Karnad, PI Gundurao and staff visited the spot and took stock of the situation.
