<p>A complaint has been filed against Mysuru-Kodagu MP Prathap Simha for allegedly threatening a Mangaluru-based journalist and abusing him in filthy language over phone. <br /><br /></p>.<p>The complaint has been lodged by Shreyas H S, a web portal journalist at Kadri police station. <br />In his complaint, the journalist said that the MP on his Facebook timeline had posted a comment in support of actor Salman Khan who was sentenced to five years of imprisonment in a hit-and-run case and had written that “his contribution to the industry and the needy outweighs his unintentional but terrible mistake”. <br /><br />To file a story on the MP’s post, the scribe had called the MP, who justified his post. Later, Shreyas published an article titled “Don’t hound him just coz he is Salman Khan, says MP Prathap Simha in FB post” and had subsequently posted a link of the article in a tweet to Simha’s Twitter account. In the afternoon, the MP tweeted: “Idiot, don’t spread falsehood here” and called the journalist and threatened him, said the complaint. A case has been registered under IPC Sections 504 and 507. <br /><br />‘Journalist a leftist’ <br /><br />Prathap Simha on Saturday denied that he had issued a murder threat to the journalist. Speaking to mediapersons in Mysuru, Simha attributed the developments (following his tweet) to the Leftist-minded, unruly journalist.<br /><br />Simha, who initially refused to answer queries over the issue, later said, “I am a person who speaks straight”.He said, “On Twitter, I called him an idiot. How can it be construed as a warning and murder threat? I don’t have time to frequently answer such baseless allegations as I am busy with development works.”<br /></p>
