Murder convict booked for contacting terrorists using phone from prison premise

Belagavi: Jayesh Pujari, convicted for murder who is housed in Central Prison, Hindalga has been accused of coming in contact with terrorists, getting radicalised and also making calls to them by using cell phone from the prison despite its use being banned.

Prison incharge chief superintendent filed a case against Pujari with the Belagavi Rural police on Thursday. In the complaint, Pujari who was also known with different aliases has been accused of contacting terrorists and making calls by using cell phone from the prison premises.

Inspector General (SZ) NIA, New Delhi had informed the prison authorities about the calls made by Pujari using cell phone and IMEI numbers of different cell phones used after which cases have been booked against him. Calls were made in the period from September 14, 2021 to November 26, 2025.

It may be recalled that Pujari during the previous year had made threat calls to the office of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and Nagpur police had taken him under their custody for investigations. He had also raised pro-Pakistan slogans in the court premises here last year.
