Mysuru: Forest fire breaks out in Chamundi hills, doused off

Mysuru, DHNS: Forest department personnel and the State Fire and Emergency Service officers carried out a joint operation to douse off the fire on Chamundi Hill towards Uttanahalli and Lalithadripura by around 12.30 pm on Friday. They brought the fire under control by evening. 

DCF, Mysuru territorial division, K N Basavaraju, said, "As many as nine fire engines were used. We have taken precautionary measures and we will be monitoring the situation even during the night."

"Dry grass had caught fire.  The extent of the area in which fire was spread is yet to be assessed," he added.

DCF Basavaraju, district fire officer K P Naveen Kumar and other regional officers personally monitored the fire dousing operations.
