Amid opposition from BJP leaders, including MP Pratap Simha and others, the Mysuru district administration is gearing up for Tipu Sultan Jayanti celebration on November 10.

In a recent meeting with the officials concerned, Deputy Commissioner Abhiram G Sankar said, the Jayanti will be celebrated at Kalamandir at 11.30 am.

Sankar said, owing to the model code of conduct which was in place due to the bypoll, the government is yet to send the circular in this regard.

Sankar said district in-charge minister G T Devegowda will convene a meeting about the celebration soon.

He also directed the authorities concerned to be prepared for the celebration.

In a press conference, Simha had expressed his displeasure about the celebration and also asked the authorities not to invite him for the Jayanti.
