Netizens question Shivaramegowda’s candidature

The JD(S) party’s decision to field L R Shivaramegowda for the Lok Sabha by-elections has invited the wrath of netizens, who are criticising the candidature on social media.

Several persons have raised questions about how JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda, who was accusing Shivaramagowda of murder all these days, decided to issue a ticket to him.

Some have posted on their Facebook walls about the protest staged by Deve Gowda against Shivaramegowda, years ago, in the murder case of journalist Kanchanahalli Gangadharamurthy. “Gowda had staged a protest march condemning the Police department’s failure. He had also criticised Shivaramegowda for his "rowdy politics". But after 20 years, the same Deve Gowda has included him in his party and has issued a ticket to contest the Lok Sabha elections," they criticised.

Another post read, “Deve Gowda, who had criticised Shivaramegowda once, will now come to Nagamangala to campaign for him. We are curious to know what he would reply to these questions."

However, a few comments justified Deve Gowda's decision, saying that there are no permanent enemies or friends in politics. The people’s representatives issue statements as per circumstances and later forget it. People will also forget this, they said.

There are a few posts saying that Deve Gowda has betrayed Lakshmi Ashwin Gowda, who had resigned the government job to enter politics, believing that the party would give her the ticket.

However, Lakshmi reacted to the post, saying that she is an ordinary party worker and is committed to the decision taken by the JD(S) leaders.
