<p>Bengaluru: M A Saleem, the newly appointed Director General and Inspector General (DG & IGP) of Karnataka, asked his police force to follow a set of directions, a day after he assumed office.</p><p>According to a letter dated May 22, Saleem issued a 10-point guideline to his staff, asking them to protect the law and order, ensure no untoward incidents take place, and adopt a victim-centric approach instead of a criminal-centric approach.</p><p>He urged his policemen to never compromise on honesty, and that it is what everyone expects from the department. Saleem asked his force to make sure a safe environment was created for the vulnerable groups and that laws were effectively enforced.</p><p>Saleem asked his department to make sure social evils like drugs, gambling continue to be curbed. He also asked them to effectively use the laws to prevent organised crime and rowdy activities. “Steps should be taken to make sure the recovered money from cybercrimes reaches the victims swiftly,” the DG&IGP said. Last but not the least, the new DG&IGP directed his force to effectively control traffic. </p>
