Over 50K people gather at mega convention in Mysuru, Siddaramaiah launches works worth Rs 2,578.03 cr

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah laid foundation stone for 56 works worth Rs 2,297.88 crore and inaugurated 18 works worth Rs 280.15 crore.

Mysuru: More than 50,000 people gathered at a mega convention organised by Mysuru district administration and Zilla Panchayat on Maharaja's College ground in Mysuru on Saturday.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah launched 74 works of 24 departments worth a total of Rs 2,578.03 crore in Mysuru city and district at the convention. He laid foundation stone for 56 works worth Rs 2,297.88 crore and inaugurated 18 works worth Rs 280.15 crore.

White taping of major roads of city

He laid foundation stone for works worth Rs 502.41 crore including concretisation/white tapping of several major connecting roads of city including Irwin road, JLB road; Kukkarahalli junction; Nazarbad city road; Hunsur Bogadi road; Mysuru-Bengaluru road; Mysuru-Mahadevapura road; Mysuru-Manandavadi; road connecting Hardinge circle and Mysuru-Bengaluru road; road connecting Nazarbad Vanivilas road to Mall of Mysore.

Buildings of Health Department

He launched works worth Rs 55.50 Crore of Department of health and family welfare including construction of buildings of 100 bedded taluk hospital at Sargur; Doddahejjuru Primary Health Centre in Hunsur taluk; Doddavaddaragudi health and wellness centre of K R Nagar taluk; Block level public health lab (BLPHL) at K R Nagar taluk hospital; BLPHL at Nanjangud taluk hospital; lab of Hunsur taluk hospital and basic infrastructure facilities for hospital.

CESC-KPTCL

Siddaramaiah laid the foundation for major projects worth Rs 408.95 crore being undertaken by Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation Limited (CESC) and KPTCL in Mysuru district.

They involve replacing 11 kv overhead power lines with underground cables and low-tension (LT) overhead lines with aerial bunch cables by CESC in four assembly constituencies in Mysuru city including Krishnaraja (Rs 118.97 Crore), Chamaraja (Rs 125.51 Crore), Narasimharaja (Rs 103.74 Crore) and Chamundeshwari (Rs 60.73 Crore) assembly constituencies.

Two projects worth Rs 38.73 crore being undertaken by Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL) in Hunsur taluk were also launched. They include construction of a 66/11 kv 2x20 MVA substation at Manuganahalli (Rs 20.41 crore) and another 66/11 kV, 2x20 MVA substation at Kattemalalavadi (Rs 18.32 crore) in Hunsur taluk.

Major works

He laid foundation stone for some major projects including construction of new modern model KSRTC bus stand with Central bus terminal resembling the architecture and design of Palace worth Rs 120 crore at Bannimantapa; Unity Mall worth Rs 192.99 crore on Karnataka Exhibition Authority (KEA) land with Union Government funds; four works of KEA worth Rs 23.59 crore on Doddakere Ground - development of E-block with architectural marvel with aesthetic value on the lines of temples at Belur and Halebeedu; development of fountains; an floating dragon boat park; construction of Center for Sports Science of Department of youth empowerment and sports worth Rs 3.50 Crore.

He inaugurated Peripheral Cancer Centre worth 175.50 crore; Gandhi Bhavan, built at a cost of Rs 3 crore on one acre of land at Kythamaranahalli of Mysuru taluk by Information and Public Relations department.

The CM also launched construction of Material Recovery Facility (under Swacch Bharath Mission) worth Rs 19.22 crore; and construction and demolition (C and D) waste treatment plant worth Rs 10.61 crore; modernisation of Kalamandira, Rangayana and World Kannada Conference guest house of Kannada and Culture Department worth Rs 14.63 crore among others.

Launched so far

He has already laid foundation stone for 1162 works worth Rs 2712.86 Crore from October 2024 so far including 315 works worth Rs 490.98 Crore in Varuna constituency; for two works worth Rs 219 Crore of Chamaraja constituency; 316 works worth Rs 443.62 Crore of H D Kote constituency; 211 works worth Rs 465.87 Crore in T Narsipura constituency; 122 works worth Rs 439.88 Crore in Periyapatna constituency; 123 works worth Rs 139.79 Crore in H D Kote constituency; 73 works worth Rs 513.72 Crore in K R Nagar constituency.

AICC head Mallikarjun Kharge, DCM D K Shivakumar, Mysuru district in-charge minister, H C Mahadevappa, Home Minister G Parameshwar, Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy, Minister for Kannada and Culture Shivaraj Tangadagi, Minister for food and civil supplies K H Muniyappa, Minister K J George, Ministers K Venkatesh, Raheem Khan, Sharanabasappa Dakshinapura, MLAs Tanveer Sait, K Harish Gowda, D Ravishankar, Anil Chikkamadu, Puttarangashetty, A R Krishnamurthy, Darshan Druvanarayan, Ganesh Prasad, MP Sunil Bose, MLC D Thimmaiah, Guarantee schemes implementation committee chairperson H M Revanna and others were present.

District administration led by DC G Lakshmikanth Reddy, ADC P Shivaraju, Police Commissioner Seema Latkar, ZP CEO S Ukesh Kumar, MCC Commissioner Shaikh Tanveer Asif made elaborate arrangements.

During the event Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Energy Minister K J George presented a compensation cheque of Rs 10.6 Crore of Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation Limited (CESC) to the family of 27-year-old Mahesh, a junior lineman from the Pandavapura sub-division under CESC, who recently lost his life while on duty. His father, Boregowda, accepted the cheque on behalf of the grieving family.
