<p class="title">Udupi-Chikmagalur MP Shobha Karandlaje on Thursday expressed happiness as Udupi has been selected for City Gas Distribution (CGD) project implementation.</p>.<p class="bodytext">She was addressing a gathering prior to live telecast of the foundation stone laying ceremony for the project by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from New Delhi, at Mahatma Gandhi ground in Beedinagudde here.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Karandlaje said the government, led by Modi, has started several innovative programmes for the betterment of society.</p>.<p class="bodytext">She said that the CGD project will be completed in eight years covering Piped Natural Gas (PNG) connections to 1,10,099 households. The district will have 11 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) stations and a network of 569 kilometres length steel pipeline to be laid by Adani UPCL, she added.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The MP asserted that programmes like Kendriya Vidyalaya, Ramakrishna Hegde Institute of Skill Development, Government Tool Room and Training Centre (GTTC), Indian Institute of Gems and Jewellery (IIGJ), Passport Service Centre (Brahmavar) and Sakhi one stop centre were introduced in the district after BJP came to power.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Adani Gas Limited (AGL) is developing the CGD networks to supply the PNG to industrial, commercial, residential and CNG to the transport sector. The company will source Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) from Jaigarh in Maharashtra and convert it into the gaseous form before transporting it to Mangaluru.</p>.<p class="bodytext">MLA K Raghupathy Bhat said CNG outlets will benefit the autorickshaw drivers and help them save money on fuel. </p>
