Congress-JDS coalition’s candidate for Udupi-Chikmagalur Lok Sabha constituency Pramod Madhwaraj will file his nomination papers on March 25.
Prior to the nomination, a rally from Congress Office will be taken out in which a large number of Congress and JDS workers will take part, party sources said.
Udupi Block Congress president Sathish Amin Padukere said that the filing of nomination papers will be a low-key affair.
The rally will kick start from Congress Office in Brahmagiri at around 1 pm.
Pramod Madhwaraj is now a JDS candidate as under the seat sharing arrangement between the Congress and the JDS.
Pramod said since the day his candidature was announced, he has been trying to take workers of both Congress and JDS into confidence.
Madhwaraj on Friday appeared in public wearing a specially designed shawl depicting the symbols of both the parties.
He said that he will be wearing that shawl until April 18 to convince the voters that he is the candidate backed by both the parties.
He said he would extensively tour both the districts in order to meet the voters.
Meanwhile, BJP leaders have begun conducting preparatory meetings.
On March 24, Udupi MLA Raghupathi Bhat will chair two preparatory meetings of party workers in Udupi.
