Principal secretary inspects ongoing work on houses

Revenue Department (Disaster Management) Principal Secretary Rajkumar Khatri inspected the precautionary measures taken by the district administration to tackle any disaster during the monsoon.

Khatri and other officials inspected the ongoing work on houses for the natural calamity victims at Karnangeri.

He also inspected the work on a building at Convent Circle. He later visited the old bus stand and landslide affected area on Mangaluru road.

Deputy Commissioner Annies Kanmani Joy said that 427 victims were identified in the first phase for the construction of houses while 409 victims were identified in the second phase for the construction of houses. Rent is being paid for 427 victim families who have lost their houses. The work on construction of houses is in progress at Karnangeri, Biligeri, Galibedu, Made and Jambooru. The houses at Karnangeri have been completed.

PWD engineer Kantharaju said that Kodagu district has 1,200 km long PWD roads. All preparations have been made to tackle the monsoon. Teams have been formed in all three taluks to clear the road in case of any mishaps during the rainy season.
