The rising mercury levels through Saturday and Sunday morning had provided an indication of the rain gods smiling on the city soon.
The city which saw a rather hot afternoon, went dark even before it was 5.30 pm. Vehicles had to drive around with headlights on, for clear visibility. And when the dark clouds burst open, it seemed as though the rain wouldn’t stop pouring for a few hours.
But, the showers lasted only for about 40 minutes, not disappointing the tourists and shoppers who were waiting to catch the breathtaking Amba Vilas Palace in all its glory, with lighting adding to the beauty.
Tourists
With visiting hours closed, the tourist spots, except for KRS, did not see any impact of rain on the inflow of tourists. But, visitors at KRS ran for shelter when the showers started.
No casualties
No casualties were reported as it was a holiday and vehicular movement was at bare minimum within the city.
But those who were leaving the city, to return to their own places, had to face some hardship with traffic moving slowly in areas near the bus stand and railway station.
