Revive Bhadravati steel plant, Karnataka minister M B Patil urges Centre

In a letter, Patil said that the VISP’s access to 497 acres of iron ore mines in Ramanadurga and Jog village of Ballari district, could sustain production for decades and this is one of the strong reasons that union government should take into account to revive this plant.

Industries Minister M B Patil on Sunday appealed to Union Minister of Steel Jyotiraditya Scindia to reconsider Centre’s decision on closure of  Visvesvaraya Iron and Steel Plant (VISP) at  Bhadravati in Shivamogga.

In a letter, Patil said that the VISP’s access to 497 acres of iron ore mines in Ramanadurga and Jog village of Ballari district, could sustain production for decades and this is one of the strong reasons that union government should take into account to revive this plant.
