<p>The district-level School Track and Field Championship, organised by Ashwini Sports Foundation, was inaugurated at CALS School grounds on Thursday.</p>.<p class="bodytext">On the occasion, Ashwini Sports Foundation managing director Ashwini Nachappa said the championship provides a platform for sports enthusiastic students to display their talents.</p>.<p class="bodytext">For the first time, the event is conducted on a track covered with artificial lawn, she added.</p>.<p class="bodytext">CALS President Datta Karumbaiah and principal Bachettira Gowramma Nanjappa were present.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Participants from various schools of the district took out a march past on the occasion.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Events such as race, hurdles, shot put, discus throw, high jump, long jump and relay events were held for both boys and girls.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Students aged 12,14 and 16 years took part in various events.</p>
