<p>Mangaluru: NHAI project director Abdulla Javed Azmi said that work on service roads at Mulki- Bappanadu, Padupanambur, Beeri and Haleyangadi on NH 66 will be taken up after monsoon.</p><p>"An agency has been identified for laying the service roads," Abdulla said during District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting held at Netravathy hall in DKZP premises on Saturday. Abdulla said that about 96 per cent of the work from Addahole to Periyashanthi on NH 75 was completed. About 400 metres is pending due to the elephant underpass issue which is pending before the High Court.</p><p>About 73 per cent of the work from Periyashanthi to B C Road has been completed and remaining work is expected to be completed by June. The work on Kalladka flyover will be completed by March end and will be ready for vehicular movement in April. The approach works to flyover are in progress. Even during the state level meeting with PWD minister in Bengaluru recently, we have made it clear that work should be started within 10 days,” DC said.</p><p>NH executive engineer said that agency has been finalised to carry out work on 30-km Ujire -Periyashanthi road. "Now, notices has been served for the land owners for acquisition. Work will begin soon," he added.</p><p>He said that the stretch from Punjalkatte to Charmadi on NH 73 will be made motorable before the onset of monsoon.</p><p><strong>Forest clearance</strong></p><p>When Belthangady MLA Harish Poonja highlighted the need for clearance from forest to facilitate widening of Charmadi Ghat road, DCF Antony Mariappa said if forest clearance was within five acre, then permission will be given at state level. “Unless I get the project report on number of trees to be felled, I can not make it clear,” he said. MP directed DC to convene a meeting with the contractor, forest department and chalk out a plan.</p><p><strong>Shiradi Ghat to be closed from March 15</strong></p><p>DK MP Capt Brijesh Chowta said as there is a report on closure of Shiradi Ghat from March 15 to facilitate the work on concreting in Sakleshpura taluk (stretch from Donigal Cross to Maranahalli). The closure of Shiradi Ghat will affect residents of Dakshina Kannada district as its a major connectivity to Mangaluru, MP said.</p>
