Kannada actor Shivarajkumar on Wednesday said that the farmers’ problems should be resolved within the ‘framework of India’.

He told reporters here, “It is the duty of the government to address the farmers’ problems. Those in power will do that. The authorities concerned should pay attention to the issue. The farmers’ problems should be resolved within the framework of India.”

The hat-trick hero maintained that it would be appropriate to speak on the farmers’ issues if one was an expert on the subject. “There is a government and the agriculture minister to address such issues,” he said.

He said that the government was responsible for all matters. What difference would it make if the actors spoke in favour of the farmers? Those in the film industry were unable to address their own problems, he remarked.

“We extend support to all. Every individual supports others. It becomes a mere projection if I declare that I extend support to such protests. It is totally different to express support for a problem only after thoroughly understanding it,” the actor added.

Shivarajkumar said that nothing was in the hands of the actors. “I would have given it in the writing if it were in our hands to resolve the issue. If it is true that the farmers’ problems will be addressed by the Indian film industry by staging protests, then there won’t be an issue. Reality should be understood,” he stated.

Commenting on high-profile persons taking to Twitter expressing opinions against and in favour of the ongoing farmers’ protest, he said that social media was being used widely. It had become a type of game. Problems would be fixed if the usage of social media was reduced, he said.
