Stage set for Modi to launch election campaign

The stage is all set for Prime Minister Narendra Modi to launch his election campaign ahead of the general elections in the state. Modi will address people at the BJP conference at Maharaja's College grounds in the city between 3.45 pm and 4.45 pm on Monday.

Earlier in the day, the PM will participate in the 88th Mahamasthakabhisheka of Bahubali at Shravanabelagola, in Hassan district.

Later, the PM will dedicate the electrified double railway track between Mysuru and Bengaluru at the city railway station and also flag off the Mysuru-Udaipur Palace Queen Hamsafar Express train at 2.30 pm. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and PWD Minister H C Mahadevappa will also attend.

The BJP has made elaborate arrangements at Maharaja's ground. BJP state unit president B S Yeddyurappa, Union Ministers Ananth Kumar, D V Sadanandagowda, Anant Kumar Hegde, Piyush Goyal, Prakash Javadekar and others will attend the conference.

BJP flags and flexboards with pictures of party leaders and Modi, have also been installed.

The City Police have restricted the movement of traffic on several roads on Monday.

The Special Protection Group (SPG) personnel are camping in the city and inspecting the security measures.
