<p>The district administration has come forward to take up survey to make out success rate of various programmes introduced through Integrated Tribal Development Programme (ITDP) initiated by Social Welfare Department, being introduced on large scale for uplift of three tribal communities found in the district.<br /><br /></p>.<p>The Koraga, Marati and Malekudiya communities are tribal groups found in the district and the Integrated Tribal Development Programme schemes cover all three tribal groups. The total population of the tribal in the district is 52,000. Of which 11500 are Koragas and 2000 are Malekudiyas and the remaining 38500 are Marati community people.<br /><br />Social Welfare Department District Officer H Premanath told Deccan Herald that the Deputy Commissioner Dr R Vishal has directed for survey to look into the reach of various programmes taken up under Integrated Tribal Development Programme. The data base would be created. He said survey would help to realise educational and economic status of the three tribal communities in the district.<br /><br />The initiative was taken up in order to ensure better facilities following the outcome of target reach. The tender is called for the purpose and survey would be taken up shortly, he added.<br /><br />Tuition classes<br /><br />ITDP is introducing tuition classes for the drop outs in Koraga colonies. These tuition centres would act as substitute to schools. Nearly ten areas in Koraga colonies across the district are identified.<br /><br />The final list of centres would be sort out by another 2-3 days. Another major project of ITDP is introducing mobile health unit in the district for the Koraga community people. Premanath said the Deputy Commissioner has approved the mobile health unit at Vandse and the unit would start functioning shortly, he added.<br /><br />As many as Rs 23 crore is released from 2008-09 to 2013-14. The funds are being utilised for housing schemes, self employment and higher education. Of which 90 per cent of schemes are earmarked for the benefits of Koraga communities. They are identified as Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG).<br /><br />The central grants released is largely scattering to the needs of Koraga community people. The Koragas are offered 100 per cent medical reimbursement facilities and student scholarship.<br /><br />The officer said Koragas and Malekudiyas are offered food for six months. The department would spend an average of Rs 1,750 per family. The food packages include 15 kg of boiled rice besides eggs, palmolein oil, Tur dal, green pea among others. Students of these communities can avail the benefits of post and pre-metric hostel facilities. There are three pre-metric and four Ashrama schools for children. A post-metric school would be allotted from the current academic year. <br /><br />The Ashrama schools provide hostel and educational facilities up to 7th standard. The target for housing schemes offering shelter to Koraga community people is 1,500 from 2008 till date. The department has ensured financial facilities to 750 houses. Of which 350 are completed and remaining are under various stages of completion. <br /><br />Rs six crore was released in the year 2014-15, of which 60 percent is spent on various infrastructural facilities such as providing road and drinking water facilities to the tribal. The official said awareness since past two years is high among tribal communities as they are coming in large number to avail the benefits of government schemes meant exclusively for them, he added.</p>
