'Suvarna Gopura to be dedicated on June 6'

The dedication of the Suvarna Gopura and Brahmakumbhabhisheka ceremony to Lord Krishna will be held from May 31 to June 10.

Speaking to the media, Paryaya Palimaru Mutt pontiff Sri Vidhyadheesha Theertha Swami said that this ambitious project would signal a new beginning to the Mutt.

The religious and spiritual ceremonies will begin from May 31. The ceremony to dedicate the Suvarna Gopura to Lord Krishna would be held on June 6 and the Brahmakalshotsava ceremony will be held on June 9.

The ceremony would be inaugurated by the Uttaradi Mutt pontiff Sri Satyathma Theertha Swami and Pejawar pontiff Sri Vishwesha Theertha pontiff would preside on May 31.

The programme Madhyamam Gopuram is organised for the journalists. Dasa Sahitya programme would be held and Admaru junior pontiff Sri Ishapriya Theertha Swami would preside. The religious ceremony would be presided by Mulubhagilu Mutt pontiff Sri Keshavnidhi Theertha Swami.

Several programmes like camp on Sanskrit dialogues would be organised on June 1. A Shobha Yatre from Jodukatte to Krishna Mutt would also be held.

On June 2, Vishnusahasranamapura Laksharchane and Lakshmishobhane would be organised. On June 9, Jnana-Vijnana programme is organised and Isro scientist Diwaker would address the gathering.

‘Gau Sammellan’ would be organised on the occasion and Pejawar pontiff would inaugurate the Sammellan. ‘Krishna Rathotsava’ would be organised in the evening.

On June 3, programmes like ‘Lakshabilvarchane’ and ‘Rudrabhisheka’ are organised. On June 4, ‘Sri Krishan Kavya Sammellan is organised. ‘Hasiru Horekanike’ is organised in the evening. The Jagnathpuri Sri Ganapati Maharaj Digyasingh Deb would be the chief guest in the evening. On June 5, ‘Gosti’ is held and Tulasi saplings would be distributed. Gujrat Gayakwad Maharaj Kumar Sangram Singh would be the guest.

The dedication of Suvarna Gopura would be held on June 6. In the beginning, the installation of ‘Shikara Pratiste’ would be held. The Ashta Mutt pontiffs would perform ‘Sahasrajata Kalashabhisheka’ on the day. Scion of the erstwhile royal family Yaduveera Krishandutta Wodeyar would participate.

Tanjavur Rajashree Babaji Rajasaheb Bhosle would be the guest on June 7 and Mayeepadi’s Danamartandaverma Raja would be the chief guest on June 8.

The Brahmakumbhabhisheka would be held on June 9. On the day, the ritual Mahasnapana would be held. Padmanabhadasa Tiruvankur Maharaja from Tiruvanthapuram would be the chief guest. On the day, Suvarnamohotsava and Avabhrata would be held to Lord Krishna

The pontiff said for the first time in the history of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi district, the Sahasra Kumbhabhisheka would be held for the Gopuram. The ritual is performed by the pontiffs of Ashta Mutt. The ‘Shikara Kalsha’ of the Gopuram was installed by pontiff Vadiraja and currently, the ‘Kalashas’ are covered with a layer of gold.
