Team will be constituted to check pollution of river Cauvery, says D K Shivakumar

Madikeri: Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar collected sacred water from the Bhagandeshwara Temple in the Bhagamandala after offering prayers.

He said that this holy water will be distributed to the public during the auspicious 'Cauvery Aarati' programme scheduled to take place in Bengaluru on Friday evening.

To a query on pollution of river Cauvery, he said "A team will be constituted to prevent pollution and encroachment of the Cauvery river and its banks."

As part of World Water Day, a week-long water conservation campaign will be conducted. The purpose of the Cauvery Aarati is to create awareness about preventing water misuse and promoting judicious use of water.

Shivakumar said that funds have already been allocated for organising the Cauvery Aarati.

He appealed to all members of the public and politicians to participate in the initiative, suggesting that people can take a pledge online to save water and promote it on social media platforms.

Additionally Shivakumar also stated that he will participate in the meeting called by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Stalin on Saturday to oppose the delimitation of parliamentary constituencies.
