A special CMC meeting was convened on Monday to discuss the bylaw for trade license and revision of fee. They failed to come to a consensus and therefore the meeting was postponed.

The meeting was chaired by CMC President Kaveramma.

Majority of the members opined that without a draft bylaw on trade license and revision of fee, it would not be possible to give approval for the final bylaw. The BJP, JD(S) and Congress members said that the CMC president should have taken all members into confidence before preparing the bylaw. He added that before convening a special meeting, the president should have discussed with the members and prepared a draft bylaw.

Finally, the meeting decided to constitute a bylaw revision committee. The committee will have CMC president, vice president, standing committee presidents and former presidents as its members. Further, it was also decided to make a study of the old bylaw and bylaws related to trade license and revision of fee from neighbouring districts.

BJP member Unnikrishna said the bylaw should be prepared in a way that it should help the CMC in generating income. SDPI member Ameen Mohsin said the bylaw should be prepared in a scientific manner.
