Udupi, DK bundh postponed

The committee had decided to hold bandh in two districts, demanding the repair of National Highway on December 1. Committee convenor B Govindaraj stated in a press release that the bandh call has been withdrawn as the government has sanctioned funds for the repair of road. Similarly, repair works were also have been taken up at some places on national highway.  The Union Ministry of Surface Transport has already sanctioned funds for the asphaltation of national highway stretches in Sasthana, Santhekatte, Yermal and Mulki-Kolnad. Similarly, a total of Rs 3.89 crore including Rs 1.99 crore from Deputy Commissioner’s Relief Fund, Rs 1.10 crore from Calamity Relief Fund and Rs 89 lakh from M R Fund of the State Highways Department has also been released for the development of national highway between Sasthana and Mulky.
