<p>Mangaluru: An undertrial ended his life by suicide at a <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/tags/mangaluru">Mangaluru</a> sub jail on Sunday.</p><p>The incident took place between 4:05 am and 4:55 am.</p><p>Commissioner of Police Anupam Agrawal said that the deceased is Prakash Gopal Moolya (43), son of Gopal Moolya, resident of Hudco Colony, near Mahaveer College Marigudi Temple, Moodbidri. </p><p>Arrested on March 11, he was in judicial custody in connection with a case booked against him under the POCSO Act at the Moodbidri Police station.</p>.Karnataka's 'biggest' drug bust: How Mangaluru police cracked Rs 75-crore MDMA haul, arrested two foreign nationals.<p>As per preliminary information, the prisoner hanged himself using a towel tied to the window grill in the toilet of Barrack ‘B’, Cell No 2 of the jail. The duty staff immediately noticed the incident, and he was rushed to Government Wenlock Hospital. However, doctors who examined him declared him dead.</p><p>A case has been registered at Barke Police Station under Section 194(4) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023. </p><p>Further legal proceedings are being carried out as per procedure, the Commissioner said.</p>
