As a part of Jilladhikari Nade Halliya Kade, the deputy commissioner visited Kodlipete and listened to the grievances of the people on Kirikodli school premises.

As she arrived, Deputy Commissioner Charulata Somal was welcomed by Kirikodli Mutt seer Sadashiva Swami, Jilla Veerashaiva Jangama Archaka Purohithara Sangha general secretary Somashekar Shastri and the villagers.

Airing grievances, the villagers urged the deputy commissioner to regularise the land on Survey Number 366, where more than 100 families reside at Ooruduve. The families are the victims of the Hemavathi backwater submerge area.

Villager Vedakumar said that the residents were using a crematorium on survey number 19 in Doddakunda, Byadagotta and Ramenahalli for the last 50 years.

“However, when we applied for RTC of the said land, we realised that the 1.5-acre land has been sanctioned to a private individual. The RTC of the land should be in the name of villagers for using the crematorium,” he added.

Reacting to it, tahsildar Govindraj said the decision on it will be taken after the court order.

The members of SC/ST communities are facing atrocities from those who had availed fake caste certificate. The genuine beneficiaries are devoid of the facilities. All the fake caste certificates should be scrapped. The villagers whose houses were damaged in the rain are yet to get the compensation amount. The issue of illegal sand extraction and ganja menace is bothering the residents, said villager Devaraj.

Karnataka Bhoohakkudarara Vedike district president H K Puttaswamy said that 8,500 applications submitted under form number 50,53 and 57 are pending for disposal, to regularise the land. The applications should be disposed of at the earliest.

Zilla Panchayat member Puttaraju demanded streetlights.

The villagers also urged to sanction an Ayush hospital to the village and upgrade the PHC.

Housing facilities should be provided for the destitutes and ambulance services should be provided, they said.

Charulata Somal said that a grievances meeting of SC/STs will be convened once in three months.

A drive will be taken up in the taluk to distribute identity card and Aadhaar card. Measures will be taken to solve the water crisis in the village, she added.
