Even though Bethu village is situated on the banks of River Cauvery, the village has been facing acute shortage of drinking water as the water supply project has been discontinued from the past several months.

The wells and borewells in the village have gone dry, aggravating the problem further. The huge water tank in the village has run short of water as the water supply to the tank has been stopped. As a result, there is a scarcity of drinking water, badly affecting the families in the village. The water supplied by the panchayat is the only available option.

The water tank was built in the village under Swajaladhara scheme many years ago, in order to address the drinking water woes. A jackwell has been constructed by the Gram Panchayat alongside Kakkabbe stream to lift water. But the work on the pipeline is still incomplete. More than 40 families in the village have been facing the problem of drinking water shortage.

The villagers have urged the Gram Panchayat to supply water using an old pump till the work on the pipeline is complete.
