Former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa’s decision to tour the drought-hit districts has come under severe criticism as the Congress called him “Opposition leader in the BJP.”

Speaking to mediapersons here on Thursday, Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly, Siddaramaiah, on Thursday, ridiculed that the senior BJP leader was indulging in politics in the name of drought.

He wondered why Yeddyurappa, who had remained oblivious to the drought situation for the last four months, had suddenly decided to visit these places now.

“He was busy indulging in resort politics or making trips to New Delhi. Not once did he talk about drought when the districts were declared drought-hit in November,” he remarked.

KPCC president G Parameshwara also attacked Yeddyurappa for his “delayed reaction” to the drought situation and said that this tour indicated his growing rebellion against the BJP.

On the change of Tumkur University’s logo, the Congress  leader said the party would seek the Governor’s intervention on the government’s decision to change the varsity symbol from a coconut tree and Madhugiri Hill to the lotus symbol.
