<p>Former Lokayukta Justice Santosh Hegde said on Friday that B S Yeddyurappa had resigned as chief minister, not because he was indicted in the mining scam, but because he was arrested in connection with some other case.<br /><br /></p>.<p>He was reacting to Yeddyurappa’s statement that resigning as chief minister on the basis of the Lokayukta report, had been a blunder. Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a function, Hegde said mining was one of the many blunders Yeddyurappa had committed, but that he had resigned not because of his indictment in the scam.<br /><br />Hegde said Yeddyurappa should have continued as chief minister just like others who cling on to power despite facing corruption charges.<br /><br />Praising anti-graft activist Arvind Kejriwal for exposing the scammers, he said that, “It is good that scams are brought out. People should know about these things.”<br /><br />Asked about his reaction to the allegation that Kejriwal’s expose` are like hit-and-run cases, Hegde said these are as good as going to the police station. <br /><br />“We all know that these complaints will not be accepted at any law enforcing agency. In such a situation, it is better to make people know about these wrongdoings of influential people,” he said.</p>
