<p>Mangaluru: Additional District and Sessions Judge, FTSC-I (POCSO), D Vinay sentenced a 24-year-old youth to one year of simple imprisonment for stalking and harassing a minor girl.</p><p>Special public prosecutor Sahana Devi Boloor said the court had pronounced the judgement within four months after the case was registered against Jumar from Kanchinadka in Bantwal taluk, on October 15, 2024. Sahana also said this is the first stalking case under sections of BNS to end with a conviction.</p><p>Jumar had stalked the victim, a minor and her relative continuously for 15 days. The victim, fearing further harassment from her stalker, had refused to attend classes. With the support of her parents and relatives, the victim later filed a complaint in Venoor police station. Venoor police station Sub Inspector Shrishail D Muragod had submitted the chargesheet to the court.</p>.Fire engulfs plastic bags warehouse in Mangaluru; damages house adjacent to it.<p>Judge D Vinay upheld the arguments of Special public prosecutor Sahana Devi Boloor and ordered Jumar to undergo one year of simple imprisonment for the offence punishable under Section 78 of BNS. Jumar was also asked to pay a fine of Rs 10,000. He will undergo additional two months of simple imprisonment if he failed to pay the fine amount.</p><p>The court also ordered a compensation of Rs one lakh to be paid to the minor girl. Venoor police had registered a case under Section 78 of BNS and Section 12 of POCSO Act against Jumar.</p>
