<p>Bhagya of Doddamagge, in Arkalgud taluk, and Lakshmana Gowda of Dudda, in Hassan taluk, both of the Janata Dal (Secular) have been unanimously elected as the president and vice-president of the Zilla Panchayat respectively for the last part of the current term, here on, Wednesday. Their term will end on February 16, 2016.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Regional Commissioner Jayanthi, who was also the election officer, announced the results during the election meeting of the ZP, which started at 3 pm. <br /><br />While Bhagya had submitted two sets of nomination papers for the post of president, Lakshmana Gowda had filed just one set of papers.<br /><br />The supporters of the president and the vice-president, who were waiting outside the ZP ,burst crackers even before the results were announced as it was expected to rain.<br />Addressing media persons, later, the new president said, she would strive to reach the benefits extended by the governments to the people intended. <br /><br />“Provision of clean drinking water, healthcare services, quality education and good roads are my priority,” she said.<br /><br />Additional Regional Commissioner B Ramu, CEO Upendra Prathap Singh and Additional Deputy Commissioner Gopalakrishna were present.<br /><br /></p>
