<p>Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala BJP’s efforts to mend ties with church leadership following an earlier attack on nuns in Chhattisgarh have suffered a fresh setback, after two Malayali nuns and two priests were assaulted in Odisha on Wednesday, allegedly by <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/tags/bajrang-dal">Bajrang Dal</a> activists.</p><p>Catholic Bishops' Conference of India president Mar Andrews Thazhath said that such incidents should be seen as an attack on the Indian Constitution and the religious freedom it guarantees. Despite that, BJP leaders go around with cakes on Christmas and Easter, trying to woo the Christian community. The Congress will strongly resist any attempt to impose the Sangh Parivar’s agenda,” said Opposition Leader V D Satheesan.</p><p>Nuns Elesa Cheriyan and Moly Lious, along with Father Lijo Nirappel and Father V Jojo, were attacked while returning from a prayer service following a death in Jaleswar, Balasore district. According to their account, a group of around 70 men assaulted them, seized their mobile phone, and emptied the fuel from a two-wheeler being used by their companions.
