<p>With cases of “digital arrest’' scams making daily headlines where hundreds of people are being defrauded of cash, another similar case has come to light.</p><p>As people continue to fall prey to these fraudsters, a Bhopal man, using his wit, evaded being a scammer’s target, <em>India Today</em> <a href="https://www.indiatoday.in/india/story/bhopal-digital-arrest-online-scam-video-adhaar-details-madhya-pradesh-cyber-police-2649990-2024-12-15" rel="nofollow">reported</a>.</p><p>Anirudh, a graphic designer from Bhopal, received a call from someone who claimed to be a private telecom company officer. The man alleged that Anirudh;s mobile number was used to extort people, including some celebrities. The 'officer' also mentioned that an FIR was registered under the Mumbai Crime Branch against him.</p>.Japanese national loses Rs 1.5 lakh to phishing scam .<p>Soon after the call got over, Anirudh received a video call from a man dressed as a cop who introduced himself as a Mumbai Crime Branch Officer.</p><p>The man impersonating the police officer asked for a couple of details from Anirudh including his mobile number and the alleged FIR complaint number.</p><p>Followed by this, the fake officer also asked about his Aadhaar card details claiming that it was necessary to understand and verify whether his Aadhaar details were misused or if the man was involved in any type of wrongdoing, the publication added.</p><p>After all this, Anirudh finally decided to confront the scammer and he asked the man impersonating a police officer in uniform how they managed to pull off such tasks and also added that a lot of effort must be needed to plan and execute such things.</p><p>However, to his surprise, the fraudster replied by saying that it takes a lot of hard work, and upon realising that he was caught off guard, the scammer disconnected the call abruptly.</p><p>This does not end here, as after the call got disconnected, Anirudh received a message from the scammer asking where they went wrong, to which he replied with an emoji, thus ending the conversation over chat.</p><p>The publication further added that Anirudh later filed a complaint about the incident with Bhopal police.</p>
