Head smashed in with rock: Woman preacher murdered in Maharashtra

The body of Sadhvi Sangita Pawar was spotted in the morning by the priest of a temple in the ashram in Chinchadgaon area, where she was staying, an official said.

Mumbai: A woman preacher named Sangeetatai Maharaj was brutally murdered in Vaijapur-Gangapur area in the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district of Maharashtra.

According to reports reaching here, she was crushed to death by a stone.

The exact reason for her murder remains unclear.

The unidentified assailant entered the ashram and killed her.

The local police have pressed a forensic team and dog squad to gather more information.

CCTV footage of neighbouring areas is being checked by police.

“The incident occurred in the night when she was perhaps sleeping in the shed,” a police official said.

“Several teams have been pressed. A technical team is also on the job,” he said. “We are investigating from various angles including robbery and dispute,” he added.
