<p>Mumbai: In one of the biggest education initiatives in India, an International EduCity project is coming up around the Navi Mumbai International Airport in the Raigad district of Maharashtra. </p><p>As a part of the International EduCity project, top 10 foreign university campuses are planned within a 5 km radius of the NMIA. </p><p>At a function in Mumbai on Saturday, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Letters of Intent (LoI) were handed over to five internationally-renowned foreign universities -Aberdeen University, University of York, University of Western Australia, Illinois Institute of Technology and Istituto Europeo di Design (IED), to establish campuses in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. </p><p>State Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil was also present on the occasion. </p> .<p>Under the guidance of Maharashtra Government, this International EduCity being developed by the City and Industrial Development Corporation of India Ltd (CIDCO) will provide the opportunity for the students across India to learn from globally recognized educators, ensuring the development of an informed society, facilitating multicultural exchange, and fostering collaboration between students and faculty from diverse backgrounds.</p><p>This initiative aims to make international standard education accessible within India by establishing foreign university campuses in the state. </p><p>“This will be the first-of-its-kind International EduCity in the country. This project will position Navi Mumbai and Mumbai as a global education hub and it will be one of the biggest drivers to achieve one trillion economy by Maharashtra and five trillion economy by India till year 2029,” CIDCO said. </p>
