Ladki Bahin and other schemes will not be halted, assures Eknath Shinde

Mumbai: In the run up to the local bodies polls in Maharashtra, the Maha Yuti dispensation on Wednesday announced that schemes announced before the Vidhan Sabha election like Ladki Bahin Yojana, Ladka Bhau Yojana and and various farmer-focused schemes will continue uninterrupted.

The MahaYuti-NDA comprising BJP, Shiv Sena and NCP announced several schemes including the flagship Ladki Bahin Yojana.

The announcement was made by Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, who is the chief leader of the Shiv Sena.

“The Ladki Bahin Yojana launched during my tenure as Chief Minister, will never be discontinued. Those who once opposed this scheme were decisively rejected by our sisters in the elections. Out of frustration, they are now making baseless allegations,” Shinde said.

Shinde attributed MahaYuti’s recent electoral success to its pro-people policies. “Our achievements in the past two and a half years, especially for farmers, youth, and women, have earned us the people's trust. The contribution of our sisters is especially invaluable,” he said.

It may be mentioned, when the Ladki Bahin Yojana scheme was launched, the cash benefit was Rs 1,500 per month, however, during the poll campaign, the tri-party government was assured to increase it to Rs 2,100 per month. However, when the Budget 2025-26 was tabled by Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister , it was not increased.

The opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi had been claiming that the government would shut down the Ladki Bahin Yojana or scale down, however, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has refuted it.
