<p>Mumbai: The high-security Arthur Road Jail in Mumbai has been kept in readiness in case <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/india/maharashtra/mumbai-terror-attack-accused-tahawwur-rana-likely-to-be-extradited-to-india-shortly-sources-3485189">Tahawwur Rana</a>, one of the masterminds of 26/11 terror attacks, is brought to Mumbai. </p><p>A team of National Investigation Agency (NIA) is in the United States to facilitate the extradition of Rana. The ground-plus-one building is separated from the rest of the jail by a high wall. </p><p>In fact, the trial of the March 12,1993 serial blasts case of Mumbai was held here as the court had to be shifted here in light of over 150 accused in the case. After the main trial of the serial blasts case was over, the facility was refurbished as it was the place where Mohammed Ajmal Kasab, the Pakistani fidayeen caught during the 26/11 attack, was lodged.</p><p>It is a bullet-proof, bomb-proof facility. A walkway, leading to an adjoining building, where the 26/11 trial court used to be located. </p><p>Built in 1926, Arthur Road jail is spread over two acres. It was upgraded to a central prison in 1994. Though it can accommodate 800 inmates, the number exceeds over 2,000.</p>
