<p>Mumbai: Former Karnataka minister and Congress leader Veerkumar Patil’s son Pritam Patil has been arrested by the Pimpri-Chinchwad police for allegedly helping the members of Hagawane family, who are accused in connection for the dowry harassment-suicide case in Pune.</p><p>Vaishnavi Hagawane (24) was found dead at her in-laws’ house in the Bhukum area of Mulshi tehsil in Pune district.</p><p>The Pune police have arrested Hagawane family members - husband Shashank Hagawane, father-in-law Rajendra Hagawane, mother-in-law Lata Hagawane, sister-in-law Karishma Hagawane, and brother-in-law Sushil Hagawane.</p>.Absconding former NCP leader, son held in dowry-suicide case of daughter-in-law.<p>While Shashank Hagawane (26), Lata Hagawane (52) and Karishma Hagawane (22) were arrested within couple of days after the incident, Rajendra Hagawane (57) and Sushil Hagawane (27), who were on the run, were arrested on May 23.</p><p>Pune Police have now arrested five more persons who had helped the Hagawane father-son duo evade arrest. </p><p>Those arrested include Pritam Patil (47) from Belagavi in Karnataka, Bandu Bhegade (60) from Vadgaon, Bandu Pathak (55) from Lonavala, Amol Jadhav (35) and Rahul Jadhav (45), both from Satara. </p><p>Pritam Patil, who is son of veteran politician and former Karnataka Energy minister Veerkumar Patil, has been accused of sheltering Rajendra Hagawane and Sushil Hagawane in a resort, while they were along the Maharashtra-Karnataka border. Pritam Patil hails from Koganoli in Belagavi district,</p><p>Rajendra Hagawane was associated with Ajit Pawar-led NCP, however, after the incident he was expelled by the party. </p><p>The Bavdhan police station is conducting the investigations. </p><p>Following Vaishnavi Hagawane’s father Anil Kaspate’s complaint, the Pimpri Chinchwad police have lodged a case under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Sections 80(2), 108, 115(2), 352, 351(2), and 3(5) at Bavdhan police station.</p><p>The Kaspate family has alleged they had given 51 tolas (595 gm) of gold, silver and an SUV to her husband’s family at the time of marriage, but the Hagawane family harassed her, demanding she brings Rs 2 crore, which they were asking for purchase of land.</p><p>The police have also issued a Look Out Circular against Nilesh Chavan, an associate of Hagavane family, who is accused of cruelty towards Vaishnavi’s nine-month-old son. However, because of the efforts of the police, the baby boy is with the Kaspate family. The LOC, which is issued through the Maharashtra state Criminal Investigation Department, has been submitted to the Bureau of Immigration.</p>
