<p>Guwahati: Even as hundreds continued to grapple with flood impact, tension resurfaced in conflict-torn Manipur after the CBI arrested a leader of Arambai Tenggol, an armed radical Meitei group, forcing the administration to re-impose curfew and curb use of mobile internet in the Valley on Sunday.</p><p>The administration imposed curfew in Meitei-dominated Bishnupur district and issued prohibitory orders in four other Valley districts, Imphal East, Imphal West, Kakching and Thoubal. </p><p>The curb on mobile internet was imposed in the Valley for five days. The stern steps followed violent protests in parts of the valley since Saturday night.</p><p>Security officials said protesters including members of the Arambai Tenggol spilled onto the streets of Imphal and elsewhere after reports about the arrest of a few members of the radical group spread on Saturday evening. </p><p>Although there was no confirmation about the arrest on Saturday, the CBI on Sunday afternoon issued a statement saying a member of Arambai Tenggol was arrested from Imphal airport on Sunday for his alleged involvement in the Manipur violence in 2023. </p><p>The accused was soon shifted to Guwahati for investigation into the cases registered by the CBI related to the Meitei-Kuki conflict in 2023. "The information about his arrest has been shared with his family members," said the statement.</p><p>The CBI had registered the cases related to the conflict as per an order of the Supreme Court. Arambai Tenggol members were accused of snatching weapons from security forces. </p><p>The group, however, deposited 246 weapons, including AK series rifles, before the security forces in February this year following promulgation of the President's Rule. The President's Rule was imposed after N Biren Singh resigned as the CM. </p><p><strong>MLAs meet Governor</strong></p><p>As the Valley remained tense, several Meitei MLAs, mostly belonging to BJP, met Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla on Sunday at Raj Bhavan seeking his intervention into the arrest resulting in the fresh tension. </p><p>"The Governor informed the delegation that all necessary steps are being taken to address the concerns and to restore normalcy," said a statement issued by Raj Bhavan on Sunday evening. The Governor also held a security review meeting with the senior administrative and security officials. </p><p>Reacting to the fresh tension, senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh claimed that the President's Rule made no difference to the conflict-torn state. </p><p><strong>NIA arrests three Kukis</strong></p><p>In a separate development, the NIA on Sunday said it arrested three persons belonging to the Kuki community on Friday for their alleged involvement in an attack on an IRB battalion at Moreh in Kuki-dominated Tengnoupal district, a town sharing border with Myanmar. </p>
