Minor boy kills 8-yr-old for resisting rape bid

The police in coastal Odisha’s Jajpur district have arrested a 16-year-old boy for allegedly killing an eight-year-old girl after she vehemently resisted his attempt to rape her.

The incident took place at Rangahudi, a tribal village near the steel hub of Kalinga Nagar last Thursday. The body of the minor girl, a class three student of a local school, was on Friday recovered from a cave on a nearby hill.

The minor tribal boy, a class ten student of a local government-run high school, took the girl to an isolated place on some pretext and attempted to rape her on Thursday evening.

After she put up a fight and foiled his attempt, the boy killed her and then dragged her dead body to the cave.

The police began an investigation after the girl’s family members registered a missing complaint and found that the victim was last seen with the minor boy on Thursday evening.

After her body was recovered, the boy tried to flee but he was caught by villagers and the police from a nearby village. The boy later admitted to the crime after police interrogated him.
