Modi chairs Cabinet Committee on Security meet, first since pause in India-Pak hostilities

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday chaired a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security to take stock of the security situation after a ceasefire was announced by India and Pakistan following four days of intense conflict along the western front.

He was joined by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Home Minister Amit Shah in the meeting, where they presumably discussed the current situation and India's preparedness.

The officials, however, didn’t disclose what was discussed in the crucial meeting, which was the first one since the halt in the India-Pakistan military stand-off.

Also the Director General of Military Operations of India and Pakistan didn’t have any conversation on the hotline as ceasefire conditions prevail all along the Line of Control and International Border. But the surveillance units of the army, air force and navy are on full alert scanning the boundary.

After four days of conflict, the two DGMOs on Monday agreed to maintain ceasefire and with the commitment of not firing a single shot at each other.
