Mufti asks Pak to control terrorism

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed on Sunday urged Pakistan to control terrorism if it wanted peace and reconciliation.

He also said the twin terror attacks, in Kathua and Samba, would not defeat and weaken their resolve to bring lasting peace in the region.  “Such dastardly acts are timed to subvert the peace process recently started between India and Pakistan. Some forces desperate to disturb peace in the region won’t be allowed to succeed. If we have to carry forward the process of reconciliation, such incidents should not be repeated,” said Mufti in the Assembly after Opposition parties created ruckus during Question Hour demanding his statement over the recent attacks.

He said the relations between India and Pakistan won’t improve if such incidents continue to happen. “We have a strong will, a strong resolve to fight terrorism. There are some rogue elements that, in the name of religion, are carrying out such acts. These elements will not be allowed to damage the fabric of peace in the state,” he said.
