Ola 'deeply saddened' as staff dies by suicide; co-worker blames 'work pressure'

Bengaluru: Ola on Sunday acknowledged that an employee of the company died by suicide. Two days ago, a Reddit post first spoke of the death. The employee worked at Krutrim, Ola’s AI unit.

“A colleague of mine just gave up on his life due to extreme work pressure,” said the viral Reddit post, describing the work conditions and adding that things have not improved since.

“We are deeply saddened by the tragic passing of one of our most talented young employees, Rahul*, on the 8th of May. Our thoughts and heartfelt sympathies are with his family, friends, and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time,” said an Ola spokesperson.

“We are extending our full support to Rahul’s* family and our employees during this time of grief. We are also in contact with the relevant authorities and will continue to offer our assistance as needed,” the spokesperson said.
