Tools like AI-driven handheld X-rays were used across various states to screen vulnerable persons for tuberculosis (TB) under the 100-day intensified 'TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan', minister of state for health informed the Lok Sabha on Friday.

In a written reply, Minister Anupriya Patel said the government has adopted Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools validated and recommended by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) for chest X-ray analysis and Line Probe Assay (LPA) result interpretation.

According to an opposition leader, the Chairman walked out due to disagreements between ruling and opposition members over the demand for a discussion on "duplicate" voter id (EPIC) numbers, and sending bills for scrutiny by parliamentary committees.

Except for West Bengal, all states and Union Territories across the nation have been onboarded for the Ayushman Bharat - Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) as of March 26, Union Health Minister J P Nadda told the Rajya Sabha on Friday.

More than 8.9 crore hospital admissions worth Rs 1.26 lakh were authorised under AB-PMJAY since its inception till March 1, 2025, Nadda said.

Responding to a question, Nadda said that as of March 20, more than 10.21 lakh, 14.47 lakh, and 14.76 lakh Ayushman cards have been created for Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs), Anganwadi Workers (AWWs) and Anganwadi Helpers (AWHs) beneficiary families, respectively, under the scheme.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, speaking in Lok Sabha on Friday, highlighted incidents involving attack on minorities in Pakistan and Bangladesh.

A bill providing for adjudicatory mechanisms for the redressal of port-related disputes, and for effective management of pollution, disaster and emergencies, was introduced in Lok Sabha on Friday.

Shipping Minister Sarbananda Sonowal introduced 'The Indian Ports Bill, 2025' in the Lok Sabha.

The Bill seeks to consolidate the law relating to ports, promote integrated port development, facilitate ease of doing business and ensure the optimum utilization of India's coastline, establish and empower State Maritime Boards for effective management of ports other than major ports.

It proposes to establish Maritime State Development Council for structured growth and development of the port sector; and provide for the management of pollution, disaster, emergencies, security, safety, navigation, and data at ports; ensure compliance with India's obligations under international instruments.

Samajwadi Party Rajya Sabha MP Ramji Lal Suman on Thursday said he will not apologise for his remarks on Rana Sanga because one cannot deny history.

In an interview to PTI Videos, Suman said that his house was attacked with the intention to harm his family. He also said he has informed the Rajya Sabha Chairman about the incident.

Suman was recently captured on camera purportedly saying that Rana Sanga was a "traitor" who brought Babur to defeat Ibrahim Lodi.

Rana Sanga or Sangram Singh I was the ruler of Mewar from 1508 to 1528.

"I will not apologise in this life, I do not know about the next life," the MP said on Thursday, a day after his house was attacked allegedly by the members of the Karni Sena.

"They need to learn to accept the truth. Babur was invited by Rana Sanga to defeat Ibrahim Lodi. He had the misconception that Babur is a robber, and that he will go back, and we will rule.

"There was an agreement that Rana Sanga would attack Agra. When their agreement broke, they had a war in Fatehpur Sikri, Rana Sanga fought bravely but lost. This is history, who can deny it?" he added.

Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Thursday met a delegation of IDBI bank employees in the Parliament House complex during which the bank officials expressed their strong opposition to the government's reported move to privatise the bank.

During the meeting, the employees highlighted the assurance given by the BJP-led NDA government in 2003 and said it is clearly being disregarded.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday said those who come to India for business, education and investment are welcome, but those who pose a threat to security will face stringent action while declaring that the country is not a "dharamshala".

"India is not a dharamshala(resthouse)," Shah asserted while replying to the debate on the Immigration and Foreigners Bill, 2025 in the Lok Sabha. The bill was later passed by a voice vote after various amendments moved by Opposition members were negated.

One of the key provisions in the bill is that anyone found to be using a forged passport or visa for entering India or staying in or exiting from the country will be punishable with a jail term of up to seven years and a fine which could extend to Rs 10 lakh. The bill also seeks to ensure a close monitoring of everyone who visits India, Shah said.

"Those who are questioning about 'Achhe Din' themselves represent a party which gave the slogan of 'Maa...Maati...Maanush' but haven't done anything for the people," she said while responding to remarks made by TMC members.

In West Bengal, Sitharaman said, the cut money group and the 'Tola Baazi' group do not allow good schemes and deeds to reach the people.

AIMPLB general secretary Maulana Mohammed Fazlur Rahim Mujaddidi issued a video appeal posted on the Board's X handle in which he urged people to wear a black armband on their right hand when they go for prayers.

The protests against the Waqf Bill rocked Bihar on Wednesday, from the legislature to the streets, as political parties within the state and outside stood in solidarity with the AIMPLB, which organised a 'maha dharna' in Patna.

The AIMPLB demonstrations were held barely a kilometre away from the Vidhan Sabha premises, to demand rollback of the Bill brought by the Narendra Modi government at the Centre and to request "secular" leaders like Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to reconsider "support" to the contentious legislation.
