Parliament Highlights | Both Houses adjourned for the day as Constitution debate ends
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday attacked the Congress in the Rajya Sabha, saying the party treated the Constitution as the "private fiefdom" of one family and "played fraud" with Parliament as he concluded a two-day debate on the "Glorious Journey of 75 Years of the Constitution of India". Earlier, Nirmala Sitharaman spoke on supplementary demands for grants and the union minister got into a war of words with TMC's Sougata Roy and Sudip Bandhopadhyay over MNREGA and PM Awas Yojana funds in Bengal. Two bills that lay down the mechanism to hold simultaneous elections in the country were introduced in Lok Sabha on Tuesday after a fiery debate, with the opposition terming the move "anti-constitutional" and Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal asserting that the legislation would not tamper with the powers enjoyed by states. That's all for today, we will be back tomorrow as the Houses reconvene. Thank you!
