The Popular Front of India (PFI) dismissed as baseless the reports on alleged links between the then Kerala-based National Development Front (NDF) – which later merged with PFI– and arrested Indian Mujahideen (IM) co-founder Yasin Bhatkal, reports DHNS from Thiruvananthapuram.

The state unit of the Popular Front of India (PFI) termed the reports as “another attempt” at maligning the organisation. The NDF is one of the Islamic outfits that merged with the New Delhi-based PFI in 2006.Newspapers, quoting sources in the investigation team interrogating Bhatkal,  reported that the IM leader was in touch with active members of the NDF and the Karnataka Forum for Dignity (KFD) during his life in Dubai and Karnataka since 2005.
