<p> Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday announced that a task force will soon be set up for preparation of a “comprehensive” action plan for effective participation of Indian sportspersons in the next three Olympics.<br /><br /></p>.<p>This came at a meeting of the Council of Ministers chaired by the prime minister as India won just two medals at the Rio Olympics 2016 compared to six in London four years ago.<br /><br />While India had sent its largest ever contingent to participate in the Rio Olympics, many of whom were initially touted as medal prospects, a low-key return for the nation in the games brought into focus many of the issues and concerns, including inadequate facilities for players for their practice.<br /><br />“The task force will prepare overall strategy for sports facility, training, selection procedure and other related matters. It will comprise of members who are in-house experts as well as those from outside,” the PMO said.<br /><br /></p>
