<p>The Supreme Court Monday extended the interim bail granted to Congress leader Pawan Khera till Friday in a case lodged by the Assam police in an FIR lodged over his comments against the Prime Minister's father.</p>.<p>Appearing for the Assam government, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta and representing Uttar Pradesh, state Additional Advocate General Garima Prasad, sought time to file their response in the matter.</p>.<p>A bench of Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud and Justices P S Narasimha and J B Pardiwala posted the matter for hearing on Friday.</p>.<p>One FIR was filed in Assam, and two others FIRs in Uttar Pradesh.</p>.<p>In February, within hours of his arrest, the court granted interim bail to Khera in the case lodged at Dima Hasao by the Assam Police.</p>.<p>Khera was deboarded from a flight to Raipur and apprehended by the police. He was on his way to Raipur to attend the plenary session of the party. His counsel senior advocate A M Singhvi had said the remarks were unintentional and he had tendered an unconditional apology for it.</p>.<p>There was nothing to invoke penal provisions in the matter, he had said.</p>.<p>Khera is the chairperson of the Media and Publicity Department of the Indian National Congress. He made the remarks at the press conference held on February 17, 2023 in Mumbai. </p>
